Chronic Pain

After managing my own chronic pain for the past 25 years I became inspired to help other people who experience persistent pain.

As a pain coach we will explore the pain science and how it affects the brain. We will tap into the power of neuroplasticity. That is your brains amazing ability to change and adapt and use it to heal your nervous system and reprogram your response to pain and all the factors that intensify the pain. A pain management coach believes every person has strengths and capabilities that have taken a back seat when pain becomes the driver. Learn to pace yourself, so you have fewer bad days and more good days by learning good self-care techniques.  Introduce you to evidence based strategies that work to reduce and manage chronic pain such as guided meditation, mindfulness and various breathing techniques.

Whether you have anxiety, chronic pain or any other chronic illness getting to the root cause is essential to healing. When I work with clients, the first thing we work on is building their self-awareness. Our thoughts and beliefs can positively or negatively affect our biological functioning and the mind is in constant connection with all parts of the body. One of the central components to mind/body work is observing your thoughts and understand how they affect your feelings, behaviors and ultimately your health and life.

Behavior change is also critical part of recovery for people with persistent pain. For example, beliefs like fear of movement and catastrophizing pain can keep patients from exercising and living their normal lives, which can contribute to other symptoms and conditions like depression.

Pain management coaching puts the power of healing in your hands. It teaches you to become an active participant in your own recovery by providing you with the right tools and right methods. It provides the guidance, the support and motivation to help overcome your chronic pain.

Coaching will provide you with a skill set that will enable you to…

  • Retrain the brain from a state of hyper-vigilance to one of calmness and safety.
  • Skillfully neutralize your stress and calm your nervous system, so you feel less pain and suffering.
  • Become more present in your life so you can create meaningful change.
  • Recognizing negative thoughts and uncover limiting beliefs.
  • Manage your activities and time so you can pace yourself and live a joyful life
